As we dig into James' views of faith in action, we also turn to Paul’s letter of Hebrews and recognize that if we are saved by grace through faith, then our lives should demonstrate our faith in action.

Here we find a discussion regarding how we deal with favoritism in the faith community. Meeting people where they are, and recognizing the image of God in them is the beginning of loving our neighbor as ourselves as we welcome others into our community.

This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, we continue our dive into the letter of James by continuing our discussion on trials and temptations. Temptation in and of itself is neither good nor bad. It is how we respond to temptation that matters. As we explore our passage today, we find that temptation not only begins within us, but it also has the potential to lead us to sin.

James: A Faith That Works Pt. 1 – Finding the Opportunity (02/04/24)

This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, we begin a new teaching series focusing on the letter of James. The letter of James focuses on one primary theme, building a faith that works in the real world. This week, as we begin our journey, we start by looking at the reality of the trials that we face in this life and how we can find pure joy in those trials as we recognize that our trials are “testing with a purpose.”

This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, our teaching series on the book of Proverbs ends with a discussion on finding the right path to walk down in this life.  By looking at the 9th chapter of Proverbs and the invitation of both Wisdom and Folly we find that the choice is ours which path we take. Our goal is to stay connected to the source of Wisdom, God Himself.

January 21, 2024 – Fool-Proofing Your Life: The Book of Proverbs Pt. 3, Avoiding Temptation
This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, we continue our discussion on finding Godly wisdom by avoiding temptation in our lives. Using Solomon’s illustration of the adulterous woman we explore the reality that foolishness in our lives stems from temptation. But temptation can be avoided as we guard our hearts, at form our lives on Godly principles.
