This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, we begin a new teaching series, Everlasting Life: Now & Forever. Moving from the Gospel of Mark to the Gospel of John, over the next six weeks we will look at how the life and teachings of Jesus teach us about how Jesus impacts our lives today, and into eternity. Starting with Jesus' walk on the water, we begin this series by asking, can God give us peace in our hearts when faced with the chaos and anxiety of our world?

This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, we continue our journey with Jesus and the disciples in the Gospel of Mark.  After the disciples return to Jesus, they are overwhelmed by the mass of people who have swarmed Jesus. We continue our journey in the Gospel of Mark this week at Lyons-Muir Church.  Sandwiched between Jesus sending his disciples into the world, and their return, we find a flashback account of the death of John the Baptist.  As we dig into this text, we see the need for the development of Christian Character existing in opposition to the reality of sin, which leaves us with the question, how are we doing as growing people of faith in the world?

This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, we continue the saga of Jesus' ministry in the gospel of Mark as we return with Jesus to Nazareth.  There, despite everything that Jesus has done thus far in his ministry, Jesus is rejected by his hometown. We all understand the reality of rejection. But the rejection is not where we should focus our attention. It is how we respond that matters most.

This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, we continue our journey with Jesus around the Sea of Galilee and explore what it means to proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord. In our passage today we find a story within a story, about how God can heal.  Throughout the text, many questions arise. But through it all we see that true healing is not the same as a cure for what ails us.

This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, we continue our teaching series titled, The Way of Christ where we are exploring what it means to interact with the Holy Spirit and grow our lives to live in the Way of Christ. This week, we turn back to Mark as Jesus falls asleep in the back of the boat. The disciples, overcome by fear teach us a harsh truth. That where fear exists in the chaos of our lives, our faith falters.

This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, we move back to the Old Testament story of Samuel as he is sent out to anoint the new king of God’s people. But letting go of the past is exceptionally hard to do. As we explore the story of David’s anointing, we find that God not only looks at us differently than the rest of the world, but it is our character that matters most.

This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, our teaching series, In My Eyes, comes to a close.  Just as oil and water do not mix, there are things in this world that do not mix with a life of faith. When we force God’s will into our purposes and plans, we inevitably fall into the cycle of sin.
