This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, we begin a new teaching series, In Christ: The Kingdom of God. Over the next eight weeks, we will focus on Paul’s letter to the Hebrews. As we start this new series, we reflect on what it means to have Jesus as our primary identity as we recognize and honor the sacrifice God made to restore humankind to Himself.

This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, our teaching series, Who Is This Man? The Inescapable Power of Jesus ends with an evaluation of what unity looks like among the disciples. How holiness and cutting out sin in our lives, not only impacts our futures in God’s Kingdom but the futures of those around us. As the people of God, we are meant to have the qualities of salt among us, so that we would live in peace together in the Kingdom of God.

This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, we continue our teachings series, Who Is This Man? The Inescapable Power of Jesus by looking at the second passion prediction that Jesus makes in the Gospel of Mark. While the Disciples argue about who will be greatest among them, Jesus pushes the disciples to move beyond their current understanding and to recognize that God sees the greatness in humankind, not in what we do, but in how we serve the people around us.

In Part 2 of our series Who Is This Man?, we explore Mark 8:27–38 in a message titled Finding Greater Depth. Jesus poses a pivotal question to His disciples: "Who do you say I am?" As we unpack this moment, we’re invited to reflect on our own understanding of Christ and what it means to truly follow Him. This passage challenges us to go beyond surface-level faith and embrace the deeper call of discipleship, even when it requires sacrifice. Listen in as we uncover how Jesus' teachings guide us toward a richer, more meaningful walk with Him.

This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, we begin a new teaching series titled, Who Is This Man? The Inescapable Power of Jesus. Through this series, we will look at how Jesus’ power is displayed to the world. To begin, we look at a turning point in Jesus’ ministry. Jesus’ encounter with the Syrophoenician woman challenges Jesus to expand his ministry beyond the Jewish community. Change is challenging, but when God calls us to expand our purpose and mission, we must step out in faith and trust that God is leading us to something greater.

This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, we reach the end of the text in John 6 and are confronted with the reality of choice. We must choose for ourselves if we will believe and follow Jesus, or if we will turn and walk away. What will be your choice? Do you choose to believe and follow, or like the crowd, is the teaching just too hard, and will you choose to walk away?

This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, we step into the reality of questions. As our text demonstrates today, when faced with biblical truth, we often respond by focusing on the physical. We ask how things can be the way that Jesus says they are. Instead of focusing on the spiritual truth that Jesus is teaching. Eat my flesh, and drink my blood has nothing to do with zombies and vampires, and everything to do with spiritually consuming Christ in our lives and accepting the new covenant that is found in Christ.

This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, we continue our journey in John chapter 6 by examining how the crowds responded to Jesus’ proclamation that He is the bread of life. What does that mean to our lives as people of faith? What did Jesus mean when he said that only those the Father has guided, will understand and accept him? This week, we wrestle with the idea that God works first in our lives, to prepare our hearts to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

This week, at Lyons-Muir Church, we continue looking at John Chapter 6, in our teaching series, Everlasting Life: Now & Forever. Moving from the feeding of the 5,000+ and Jesus walking on water, this week we find ourselves with the crowd after 2 days of being on the road. Seeking Jesus, the crowd misses the point of the events that have transpired. Lovingly, Jesus redirects the crowd telling them that the one thing they should do, is believe.
